Kinner Kailash Yatra concludes without any mishaps in 2014

The highly revered Kinner Kailash Yatra, case has successfully concluded for the year 2014. The Deputy Commissioner of Kinnaur Mr. D.D. Sharma who was also a part of the pilgrimage this year announced the successful completion of the yatra on 11thAugust, cheap 2014.

The pilgrimage to Kinner Kailash, buy one of the most revered site for Lord Shiva, is undertaken in the month of August every year. Pilgrims from all over the country come for this pilgrimage to get darshan of the 79 foot high vertical rock lingam, located in the Kinner Kailash range. The lucky ones get to witness the Shivalingam with changing colors, if it’s a clear day. The rock face is actually located at a height of 20,000 feet between the Mt.Kailash and Mt. Jorkaden.

The meteorological department at Shimla had predicted light rains from the 1st to 4th August and heavy to moderate from 5th to 6th, before the onset of the yatra. The administration had decided to deploy two policemen and a home guard jawan with every batch of pilgrims in order to assist them at every point of the way.

It might be recalled that in June 2013, the Dev Sabha Committee of the Tangling Village had put a ban on the yatras. As their deity Parka-Shankaras, was annoyed about the littering of the mountain and the plucking of the holy Brahma Kamala flower. This year too, the yatra was allowed on the condition that bhandara would oinly be served at the national highway 22 before the Tangling village, to prevent littering.

DC D.D Sharma , has clearly warned that the glaciers were in  a melting phase and all humans who undertake the yatra now will do so at their own risk. He also applauded the  team of two policeman and two jawans who were successful in rescuing Vinay, a resident of Kasauli from the mountain peak. Vinay had been missing since August 2nd, ever since he got separated from his friends. All members of the team would be honored at a  district level function on Independence day.
