Shimla: Mounting queues of vehicular traffic has strangulated the congested roads of hill resorts as summer tourist rush piles up in Himachal Pradesh but road repair and maintenance works has left the visitors more frustrated over forced long blockades on major highways.

Where the city police in the capital is working overtime to regulate traffic, cure and it is no better in Manali, seek those travelling on the Shimla – Chandigarh highway today were stuck in hours long traffic jams as the road authorities carried out tarring job.

“It is peak tourist season and road tarring works on the highway to Shimla, today had 15 Km long jams. What a frustrating time it was for those on the road, said Pankaj Khullar, a retired forest officer.
