Finally! The New Delhi Railway Station has got a traveler’s lounge.

You see those warning boards at the Railway Stations in Delhi saying, “Do Not use Train Toilets at the Platform.”

However, they don’t give you an alternative. You have to ask coolies who do not respond, look at the faces of Railway Police officials who don’t care a fig, and in the end you find it impossible to locate a public urinal at the platform.

However, this railway lounge is a welcome decision. The ministry of railways plans to open such lounges at 50 major stations.

The first travelers lounge opened today at the New Delhi station, equipped with facilities like food court, internet connectivity and a business center. Similar to lounges at airports, the new lounge has a seating capacity for 125 people. It also has a convenience retail store and will be accessible to all passengers at Rs.300 for three hours.

For large groups or families, the lounge has a separate private seating area.

If the passenger wishes to extend the stay beyond three hours, Rs.125 will be charged for every additional hour. Additional services such as the wash & change, business center and the retail convenience store will be chargeable as per usage by the passengers.
