The Western Disturbances are threatening normalcy in the state and the MET Department has issued warning of heavy snow storm in the state today. Yesterday, ambulance Manali-Rohtang road was blocked because of heavy snowfall at the Rohtang Pass and Rahni Nullah. Heavy rains and snow are expected in the state today.
Manali reported -3 Degree Celsius on December 13 and Shimla reported -2 Degree Celsisus, which is far below than the average temperatures of December.
Even in relatively plane areas like Sundernagar and Mandi, sub freezing temperatures were reported last night. The average temperature in the state remained far below than 20 Degree Celsius, which used to be the average temperature in the first week of December in the last few years.
Kalpa, so far the coldest region of the state reported -5 Degree Celsius whereas Keylong reported -8 Degree Celsius.
With increasing tourist inflow in the state, hopes of White December are higher than ever and 2012-13 season could be one of those rare seasons when the December was white.
