Everybody expected it to snow in Shimla on the New Year as well as Christmas eve. However, it didn’t snow on the Christmas eve, neither is it going to snow on the eve of New year. The sun is bright and the sky is clear here in Shimla.
Early snowfall in December first raised hopes of a White December. It didn’t happen. Now with New Year disappointing tourists, the only hope remains is a White January. All the popular tourist destinations like Shimla, Kasauli, Narkanda, Dharamsala, Palampur, Manali, Chamba and Dalhousie have been experiencing sunny days for the past 10 days.
However, a white sunny day in Shimla is going to be just perfect on the New year eve. While the planes are badly craving for a sunny day, the hills of the state are bright and shining. Do not give let the weather fog your New Year celebrations, that’s the new year slogan adopted by hoteliers here in Shimla and Manali.
Manali has surpassed Shimla this year too. This time again the tourist resort town of Manali is attracting holidaymakers owing to the plentiful snow in nearby hills. Gulaba, 20 km from Manali, is under a thick blanket of snow.
In 2011, the hilly state was visited by more than 15 Million tourists. And the record snowfall in the early months of snowfall is going to inflate this figure by a considerable margin. Currently, 2,169 hotels with a bed capacity of 55,928 are registered with the state tourism department.
One can even travel to Offbeat Locations like Barot, Pong Dam, and Parashar Lake in Mandi to celebrate the New Year.
