Now the Indian Railways is gearing up to resume services from the Banihal Railway Station, which will connect the Kashmir Valley to the Jammu region via railways. Banihal station is under construction and it could help a great deal to boost dying tourism industry in the Kashmir Valley.

The entire railway project connecting the Valley with the rest of the country is expected to be completed by 2017. Once this tunnel is completed, the distance between the Kashmir Valley and Jammu would be reduced by nearly 35 kilometers. Currently, only privately owned cabs, buses and few state transport buses run between Jammu and Kashmir. With railway coming in the scene, it will help the natives of the valley as well as the tourists a great deal.
