Tutikandi Green Park, click Shimla is going to organize the first ever Winter Carnival this year, starting 21 December onwards. The Green Park is located next to the newly constructed ISBT.
The Winter Carnival will display Himachal handicraft and handlooms, which have always remained a major attraction among tourists.
The carnival will start on 21 December and last until 5 January, 2013. More than 30 companies have already registered themselves for the carnival. Other than Himachal arts and crafts, the Carnival will focus on traditional food items of Himachal Pradesh.
This year Shimla will host the 9th National Ice Skating Competition at the Ice Skating Rink, Shimla. The competition involves skating events like ice racing, torch race, and figure skating.
Ice Skating is nothing less than a tradition for Shimlites. The annual Winter Carnival is over 50 years old and the first skating event was organized here in the year 1920, during the British Era.
As of now, adults are charged 1500-1600 for one skating session, where as kids are charged 750 Rupees for one skating session. The skating charges at the Ice Skating Rink may go up as the tourist seasons picks up.
