Located near the Kullu town, no rx Kanawar Wildlife sanctuary is one of the most popular wildlife sanctuaries in Himachal Pradesh. Spread over an area of 61 sq km, try Kanawar Wildlife Sanctuary was notified in revenue records of the state on 26 February 1954.
The sanctuary is situated very close to the Manikaran town, pharm famous for its hot springs which are considered very religious amongst the pilgrims all over India.
Tosh Valley, Parbati Valley, Kheer Ganga, Kasol, and the Malana Village are the nearest destinations close to the Kanwar Sanctuary. One can even visit the beautiful yet unexplored Lagg Valley in the Kullu district. Lagg Valley connects the Chuhar Valley in Mandi with the Kullu district. There is an ancient temple in the Lag Valley, which is supposedly thousand years old, as claimed by the priests and the natives of the village.
The sanctuary is very famous among the tourists for its green pastures, unmatched topography and hilly terrain.
The bridle paths in the valley provide unique scenic beauty to the sanctuary.
It is also famous for preserving the endangered species of Himalayan Tahr.
The fauna found in the region include Jungle Cat, Himalayan Bear, Brown Cat, Barking Deer, Rhesus, Porcupine etc.
The flora comprises of mixed Conifers, Deodars, Oak, Alpine etc.
There are many government and private resorts present in and around the sanctuary.
