The winters have finally arrived. After Rohtang Pass being closed down officially early in November, price now it is the famous Badrinath Temple that has shut its doors for the year.

Incidentally, buy the closing of the doors of the shrine is a major occasion and thousands of devotees from various parts of the country gather on the occasion, bringing with them flowers of various hues in baskets.

Usually, pilgrims are  allowed till the last ritual, coating the main deity in the sanctum sanctorum with ghee, is performed and the doors will be closed for the winters.

On November 18, when the temple doors closed down officially, thousands of pilgrims were present on the occasion, when the ‘raval’ (head priest)  Keshav Prasad Namboori invited Goddess Laxmi on behalf of Lord Vishnu to come from the adjoining temple to the sanctum sanctorum, and thereafter closed the doors of the Laxmi temple in the same complex.

    The Badrinath Temple is famous as one of the four “Chota Char Dham”. Below the temple Tapt Kund hot sulphur springs. It also known as – Panch Badri. , Vishal Badri, Vridh Badri, , Adi Badri, Yogadhyan Badri and Bhavishya badri.
