In a welcome move, the state government has finally started an online portal where the foreigners can not only register themselves online but can also lodge complaints against the wrongdoings of hoteliers, travel agents, and local shopkeepers.
Foreigners visiting Himachal have to register themselves at the nearest Police Stations for their own safety. However, the process used to be tedious and lengthy, which didn’t suit overseas tourists because of absence of an online portal.
However, the state Police has now confirmed that the online portal will not only help the Police keep a check on discrepancies but it will also Himachal even better tourist place.
“Any foreigner can register his/her name online at a police web portal,” Director General of Police (I.D.) Bhandari said on Decmeber3 in Shimla.
The web portal has been named ‘Kanoon Vyavastha’ and tourists can lodge an online complaint on the website.

Earlier the state Police had launched an SMS Helpline on a designated 10-digit number — 9459100100.
Police officials said since the launch of the facility, 4,392 SMSes have been received, of which 82 first information reports (FIRs) have been registered.
The portal also has the provision to pay online traffic fines for violation of the Motor Vehicle Act.
