Shimla received its first snowfall of the season on December 11, and if we consider those tiny white flakes sporadically falling from the sky since December 4, then it was the third snowfall of the season in Shimla.
Rains and snowfall are going to spell more trouble in the higher reaches of the state. Shimla, the Queen of Hills is likely to receive more rain and possibly snow in the next two days.
The MET Department has issued a warning of snow, heavy rain and hailstorms throughout the state. The Western Disturbances coming from Northern Pakistan have affected the weather in the state badly.
Heavy rains are predicted in the plain areas of the state on 13 and 14 December 2012.Major tourist places Shimla, Manali, and Kullu saw mercury dipping substantially, which is seen as a good sign for the upcoming tourist season in the state.
Kalpa in Kinnaur reported minimum temperature of 0.6 Degree Celsius in the day time whereas Manali and Shimla reported 1.0 and 4.3 Degree Celsius respectively.
Keylong, Manali, and Kalpa are continuing to record minimum temperature.
Western Disturbances in the state broke all the records of rains and snowfall in the state last year and if the same happens this year too, Himachal Pradesh is highly likely to welcome the tourists with snow one the eve of New Year.
