Snowfall delights Manali tourists

Manali: Much to the delight of tourists and the farming community, no rx the valley township here recorded more than 2 inches of snow by late afternoon, thumb as the sky remain overcast through the day with prospects of more snow over the night.

At higher reaches of Manali, in Solang, Marhi and Rohtang Pass the snowfall was much heavier. At Rohtang Pass that connects Kullu valley with Lahaul, over 2 feet of snow was reported to have accumulated over the last 24 hours.

Keylong the district headquarters of Lahaul, 4 inches of snow was recorded.

Lower parts of the valley at Kullu, Bhuntar and others incessant rains lashed the region, forcing much of the life to move indoors as the cold wave conditions intensified.

Mr Vinay Dhiman, the sub divisional magistrate of Manali, issued an alert of heavy to very heavy snowfall over the next 48 hours and asked the people to remain indoors to live out the inclement weather conditions.
