Himachal is known as Dev Bhoomi, meaning the Land of Gods. There are hundreds of temples in the state and some of them are thousand years old. Many of them are at the top of a 4,000 meter high mountain and some of them are submerged deep inside a water reservoir.

The Pong Dam Wetland is one such place where a group of temples are submerged in water. Come summers, and they disappear in the dam, not leaving even a single trace behind. No one can say if they exist or not.

In winters, when the migratory birds are around and the water levels are receding  one gets to see these temples gradually coming out of the water with every meter drop in the water level. During the month of January-February, these temples are completely out of the water and one can see migratory birds flying around these temples.

These temples are called ‘Bathu Di Ladi‘, where Ladi means a series of temples.

How To Reach?

One can reach these temples from the Talwara/Pong Dam site and Nagrota Surian wetland. From Talwara to the Temple Site, the total distance is approximately 50 Kilometers. The road is wide and open with minimum traffic. One needs to drive only for 10-15 Kilometers on the dirt road.
