At 30.6 degree, Shimla records summers hottest day

Shimla: Temperatures that had remained subdued through much of summer crossed the 30 degree Celsius mark here today, help marking it the hottest day of the season.

Though the sky was partially clouded and a light breeze provided much relief, however the day mercury high was recorded at 30.6 degree Celsius that was about 3 degree above normal according to the weatherman. Yesterday, the day’s high at the hill station was 28.3 degree Celsius.

Freed of living in artificial air-condition environments, tourists visiting the hill station from places where the temperatures are much higher spent the day sightseeing or shopping, enjoying the outdoor weather.

After a slow start the tourist arrivals have picked up and occupancy rates are at near capacity.

Kalpa in Kinnaur had a high temperature of 23.2 degree and popular with tourists, Manali in Kullu at a comfortable 25.2 degree Celsius was a tad lower than the 26.6 degree recorded yesterday.

In the Dhauladhar ranges at Dharamshala the weatherman recorded a high temperature of 35.7 degrees, lower in the valley at Una a recording of 43 degree Celsius was the highest temperature recording in the Himalayan state.

Making a forecast of isolated showers over the next 24 hours at a few places, the met office said that induced cyclonic circulation over northwest Rajasthan had moved further north and now lies over north Haryana and adjoining Uttar Pradesh.
