Located near Rampur Bushahr in the district Kinnaur of Himachal Pradesh Rupi-Bhaba Wildlife Sanctuary is a treat to nature lovers.
It is situated at an altitude of 909 to 5650 mtr on the bank of River Sutlej. It lies adjacent to the Great Himalayan Park and Pin Valley National Parks. The varying altitudes throughout the valley make it one of the most diversified sanctuaries of the state. Right from the banks of the Sutlej it reaches 5650 meters above the sea level, see offering a wide variety of landscapes and wildlife to the enthusiasts.
It is spread over an area of approximately 269 sq kms.
Thousands of tourists visit the sanctuary and the religious places around the sanctuary, annually.
The gushing springs originating from the snow capped mountains and the view of green pastures elevate the beauty of the sanctuary by leaps and bounds.
Covered with lush green forests and rocky terrains a large number of diverse wildlife species are found here.
Varied species of flora found in the region are Kharsu Oak, Alpine, Conifers and Himalayan temperate forests.
The various species of fauna include Snow Leopard, Himalayan Tahr, Brown Bear, fox, Blue Sheep, Blue Birds, Ghoral, Wran, Black Tit, Wall Creeper etc.
Best time to visit the sanctuary is from April to September.
